Stress eating
In our most recent class we learned that it is difficult to lose weight when you are stressed. I’ll just say that was not news to me. More helpful: It is important to identify the signs and symptoms of stress (fight or flight response) and learn how to break your association with food as a comfort during stressful times. We may not turn to food immediately as a comfort, but we may seek it later to help “relax” and decompress. Now we are getting somewhere. Recap from our leader: Last week, we talked about mental and emotional health and how to be present, or mindful. One idea we shared was to take a few minutes to slow down and pay attention to the way our body feels in a given moment, which can help us to be more aware of our surroundings and can improve our mental well-being.
