Life got busy friends. I learned a few things over the past few weeks:
- It is more difficult to stick to a healthy lifestyle during busy/stressful times. AND it can be done!
- I was using the occasional beer and bar food as a coping mechanism. When I stopped doing that, I had to find new, healthier coping mechanisms.
- Boundaries are important - it is ok to say, "I can do this much, not more." Turns out that works. I've been reading Mel Robbins book, Let Them. It's excellent.
- Support is critical - thank you all for checking in, whether it is here or on our zoom calls or texts. Sarah and Ryan are great at holding me accountable in a supportive way.
- When you lose weight in your face, your wrinkles show more!! Yikes. I'm trying new wrinkle creams - any suggestions???
In another update, I started jogging. We will not call it running. It feels so great! I forgot how great running is both physically and emotionally. My trainers are super excited. They want me to sign up for a 5k so I have a goal. Sarah is going to run the mother's day 5k with me. The last time we ran it together was in 2019. Ryan wants to run one with me over the summer. Both kids are now running.
It feels great to have proven to myself that I can do this when it's hard. Let's go!
Wow! That's such a great update. I'm so happy you are finding the way through stressful / busy times. Honestly, that is one of the hardest areas to conquer. Happy you are jogging. I know how happy that made you in the past, so keep it up. Love your choices are choosing you versus saying no. The mind shift is so critical and will support long term adoption. I need to step up my game! :-)
